November Market Mondays: Meals on Wheels of Charlottesville/Albemarle

Dairy Market teamed up with Meals on Wheels of Charlottesville/Albemarle for November’s Market Mondays. Market Mondays is Dairy Market’s dine-out-for-donations program. Each month we partner with a local non-profit and every Monday guests have the opportunity to add $1—or more—to their order with 100% of those proceeds going to our monthly partner. Meals on Wheels will also be hosting a Holiday Gift Drive (see items for donation here). Dairy Market’s Starr Hill Brewery has also teamed up with Meals on Wheels as their Cheers for Charity partner for this month where $1 from each pint and 6-pack of The Love beer will be donated.

Meals on Wheels of Charlottesville/Albemarle was founded in 1977 by Church Women United. Meals on Wheels volunteers deliver hot, nutritious meals to the ill, aging, and convalescing residents of the Charlottesville/Albemarle area who find it difficult or impossible to prepare meals for themselves. Meals are delivered 5 days a week, including all holidays, 52 weeks of the year. They currently have an active volunteer force of over 400 people and serve meals to approximately 230 clients in the city of Charlottesville and the county of Albemarle. Meals on Wheels also provides a source of daily social contact for people who would otherwise be alone. Volunteers check on meal recipients every day so people who live alone can feel safe.
