CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) — Starr Hill Brewery is teaming up with the Chris Long Foundation to raise awareness about clean water and education equity in the Charlottesville community. To celebrate the partnership, Long guest hosted a trivia night at the Dairy Market Starr Hill location.
Long started Waterboys in his foundation to address poor water quality after a visit to Tanzania in 2013. The group, consisting of NFL players, fans, and influencers, has made a difference both domestically and internationally in areas like Texas, West Virginia, and East Africa.
Local businesses, like Starr Hill Brewery, help raise awareness of the organization’s efforts. The launch of this partnership will be marked with the introduction of a new beer called Draft Pick Ale.
“I’ve been drinking their beer for a long time and when they came to us and said, ‘We want to do something with you,’ we jumped at the opportunity. With all the proceeds going to Chris Long Foundation, whether you’re drinking here or out in Crozet, it’s a slam dunk for us and Draft Pick Ale is a cool name and we are psyched about it,” Long said.
Trivia questions ranged anywhere from Long’s sports achievements to his philanthropic work. The new beer is available on draft at the Charlottesville and Crozet taprooms.
